Striving to help others achieve success

Mike is a professional speaker, seminar leader and writer. His 25-year career in hospitality and retail ended in 1992 when he was ‘organised out’ of a management position as part of a corporate restructuring. After some personal soul searching and an honest assessment of his strengths, Mike chose to become self-employed.

Drawing on his experience of job loss at 46 years of age, he focused his efforts on helping others who may be facing similar challenges. Mike works with individuals and groups, presenting career topics from first job through retirement. While he recognizes the importance of financial security, Mike emphasizes quality of life and how it impacts on our well-being.

The social changes accompanying retirement are commonly taken for granted. Mike helps people to recognise opportunity and prepare for a fulfilling, active retirement. He often includes retirement hints in his weekly careers column in the Sudbury Star newspaper.

Mike is strongly committed to customer service. His experience in hospitality and retail management enables him to identify real issues and offer ideas and solutions that work.

Mike is a natural. He connects quickly with any audience.

Individuals, employee groups, students and association members will benefit from his fast-paced and enthusiastic presentations. Mike has motivated participants to assess their quality of life and, through a renewed belief in themselves, make daring and positive changes.

Truly interested in the well-being of others, Mike remains active in the community. He presents a monthly alcohol server training course, to all interested parties at no charge.

His commitment to skills development in Ontario was recognised with an Outstanding Achievement award presented jointly by the Ministry of Education and Training, Ontario, and Employment and Immigration Canada.

His ongoing professional development includes a certificate in small business counselling, working to achieve a human resource designation and a diploma in adult education.

He is an active member of the Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario, Sudbury Chapter, and a member of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers (CAPS).

Approved as Province of Ontario "Vendor of Record" for the provision of transition and retirement planning (non-financial) services.
